Fang Yuesheng
Product Designer
Fang graduated from Shandong University (Weihai), majoring in public art, and founded an artwork customization studio in 2016, and co-founded “Meaningless Space” with his partner Cui Lamei in 2021. Now he is product designer and creative director at Shanghai Yihuayifang Culture & Artand Meaningless (Shanghai) Culture & Art. His works “House 2-3: 123 People’s Home” and “Four open 02: Medieval, Second-hand and Continuity” have been interviewed and reported by several famous magazines such as Article One and Home Gallery.

Over the years, I have collected many stone spheres of varying sizes, most dating back to the Song Dynasty (960–1279), with textures resembling planetary surfaces. This inspired me to combine these stone spheres with wood, another gift from nature, for secondary creations. Using metal, maple veneer, stone spheres, and metal wire, I aim to form new modes of expression and convey new concepts through structural connections. The old and new are never opposites; exploring material properties is an essential quality for a creator.
