TRISTRAM’S VISION
Tristram Hunt commissioned a set of table and chairs for the Directorate Office at the V&A. What sets this piece apart from other pieces in the museum is that these chairs and table are not created to enter the museum’s collection, and thus become a part of the institutional legacy of the museum.
“Sometimes people waiting in this space are about to go into difficult or complicated meetings, and may be feeling nervous. Having a well-designed wooden chair that is both comfortable but also in a sense validating of their position seems to me important.” – Tristram Hunt
